Cheikhou Kouyate : Confirm last season’s achievements

Part of the Purple-White players’ group already had their third training day of the season today, Wednesday 16th June 2010. One of them was Cheikhou Kouyate, who is taking part in a complete preparation for the first time.

"Up until now I have always been injured or have had to work individually because of an arrears. It’s nice, then, to prepare with the rest of the group now", he said. "But I will have to work hard, as it’s been two months since I’ve last played a match. After the game at Club Brugge I didn't play anymore because of my ankle injury."

For the midfielder, that championship match completed a solid season. "I had a good season last year, but it’s my goal now to confirm. This season will be longer and tougher than the last one, so I will have to go all out."

Fortunately, the Senegalese has just come back from a relaxing holiday in his homeland. "It was amazing to return to Dakar and to see my friends and family again. And I also stayed in touch with my teammate Cristophe Diandy. We were only ten minutes apart in Senegal", Kouyate laughed.

Biglia in Belgium again

The Argentine Lucas Biglia has in the meantime also returned to Brussels. The midfielder resumed group training this afternoon. Tom De Sutter is recovering and Marcin Wasilewski will, for the time being, stick to one group training a day. In the morning he trained with the rest of the group, in the afternoon he worked individually.

Both tomorrow, Thursday 17th June, and the day after that, Friday 18th June, the Purple-White players will undergo medical and physical tests.
