Romelu Lukaku is making history at Purple-White. The 16-year-old Sporting striker only made his first appearance in Anderlecht’s first team less than a year ago, but became the discovery of the year in the Belgian league. Lukaku played 25 times, 16 of which he started the match. He scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists. With those 15 goals, he crowned himself top scorer of the Jupiler Pro League 2009-2010. He is the youngest player ever to become top scorer.
"Of course it feels really good to win that top scorer title", the striker said. "It’s a personal goal I’ve achieved, the next goal is to win the title", he determinedly said. "I have worked very hard to stand where I stand today. I can also realize this thanks to my parents, the club, school, ... I realize that I will have to work a lot more, but I am only 16. Everything about my game can still be improved."

On Sunday, the play-offs will start for RSCA. "We will have to be at our best during the next ten matches and go all the way to take that 30th national title. We are only looking at ourselves and we will try to start the play-offs as well as possible", Romelu said. The striker is leading a hectic life, as he is also still studying next to playing football. "It has never been easy to combine those two, but it is very important to obtain a degree, he realized. "I am doing the best I can in school and I am very motivated to pass."
It was one of Romelu’s dreams to make it to Anderlecht’s first team,. Another one is to play together with his younger brother Jordan. The first dream has been fulfilled in the meantime, he hopes that the second will follow. "Of course I hope to be able to play with Jordan at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium one day. And personally I think that it’s possible. But okay, you can’t compare my brother and I, we are two completely different types. We both have an offensive attitude, but completely different anyway. Whether we are complementary players? I think so, since we’re brothers. I know him inside out", he laughed.
