Cristophe Diandy: It all went really fast for me

Cristophe Diandy is one of the four youngsters - in addition to Mukendi, Lukaku and Boufleur - who received the opportunity to take part in RSCA’s training session in Austria. Diandy is an 18-year-old Senegalese midfielder, who has only been in Belgium for six months, but was able to quickly convince the RSCA staff and signed a five-season contract with Sporting in March.

Diandy is a regular member of RSCA’s U21 team, but is also present during the training session in Austria at this moment. "The training session turned out well", said the midfielder. "It all went really fast for me. I arrived at Anderlecht through my manager in January and, only two months later on, I was able to sign a five-season contract here." So, everything went well in that area, but it was not always easy for the Senegalese. "I came to Belgium alone and I terribly miss my family. Moreover, I arrived here in January 2009, when it was very cold outside. I was not used to this kind of cold, it was very hot in Senegal at that moment. So, at first, it was difficult for me, but, in the end, I managed to adjust."

The midfielder also encountered one of his friends again at RSCA. "I played in the same team with Cheikhou Kouyaté in Senegal", said Diandy. "He was also the one to mention my name when they asked whether anyone knew a good attacking midfielder", said Diandy, who was also offered a position somewhere else. "I was offered to go to the French Metz, who have a cooperation agreement with the Senegalese club where I used to play. But, when Anderlecht came knocking, I thought: 'Why not?' I knew that Sporting is a major club."

Training already showed that Diandy can shoot well. "My left foot is one of my strong points", said the midfielder. "But, I can still work on my right foot", he smiled. And what about his ambitions? "Just like every other player, I hope to play as much as possible this season."
