Vercauteren gives players two days off

A lot of Anderlecht-players have international obligations this weekend. Coach Franky Vercauteren gave the remaining players two days off. The international period suited several injured players, including Kompany and Tihinen, fine.

Vincent Kompany is still following an individual training programme and hasn’t got a reaction yet, which is very positive news for the talent of Sporting who might resume group training partly on Monday. Hannu Tihinen went running on Friday, but the injury is still sensitive and will be evaluated on Monday. Oleg Iachtchouk trained well but will have to undergo an extra examination.

Defender Lamine Traore did train but was bothered by his dorsal muscles. Jan Van Steenberghe (quadriceps) didn’t train and received an infiltration. Sami Allagui, who sustained a knee-injury last Monday, underwent a second examination which excluded a meniscus-injury. He might resume training on Monday. For the three players mentioned above, an evaluation will follow on Monday.

Coach Vercauteren hasn’t been in touch with Nenad Jestrovic yet, the Serbian striker is rehabilitating and is expected back at the club on Monday.
