Laurent Delorge signed a three-year contract at Sporting Anderlecht yesterday, on Friday 10 June 2005. The polyvalent Laurent Delorge is - after Marius Mitu - the second transfer of RSC Anderlecht. The right-winger was introduced yesterday afternoon during a press conference at the Constant Vanden Stockstadium.
"This has to be a reward for all the efforts Laurent has made the past few years", said manager Herman Van Holsbeeck. "Coach Franky Vercauteren really wanted Laurent to come and join Sporting. I'm convinced Laurent is going to prove us that we've made the right choice."
Apart from Anderlecht, also Twente had taken an interest in Laurent Delorge. "I talked with Twente a few times last year but when Anderlecht came into the picture I didn't doubt very long. I also thought it was inappropriate to play both clubs off against one another. I'm almost 26 years old so I'd like to expand my record of achievements. Here I'll be able to play for the title and the Belgian Cup every year."
The 25-year old Delorge earlier already played for AA Ghent and Coventry (England). In England he barely played due to a severe fracture of the leg. In the season 2002-2003 he returned to Belgium to play with Lierse where he scored five times last season. At Sporting Delorge will play with number 19.
