The Red Devils - with Vincent Kompany and Yves Vanderhaeghe in the starting eleven - followed the example of the Belgian -21 (2-1 victory on Friday). The Devils won deservedly the important WC-qualifying match against Bosnia 4-1. The Belgians had to pursue as of the first minutes but goals of Emile Mpenza (2), Daerden and Buffel did the tide turn.

While the Red Devils climbed to the fourth place after their victory against Bosnia, the 21-team are the new leaders of group 7 after their 2-1 victory on Friday. De Ceulaer and Haroun gave them a 2-0 lead during the first half, Bosnia scored in the second period but Belgians stayed in full command of the situation. Thanks to their victory the Red Devils now have 10 points, that's one more than first pursuer Serbia and Montenegro. Maarten Martens, on loan to RKC Waalwijk, played 80 minutes, Mark Deman played the second half.
In group eight Christian Wilhelmsson played with Sweden against Bulgaria and won 0-3. Chippen started on the bench and saw Sweden take the lead via Ljungberg. When Bulgaria had to go on with 10 (second yellow card for Markov), Sweden finished the job with goals from Edman (free kick) and Ljungberg (penalty). Wilhelmsson played a half hour during the second half.

Hannu Tihinen played the whole match with Finland as they lost unlucky 3-2 to the Czech Republic. Baros and Rosicky gave the Czech Republic a 2-0 lead, Litmanen scored 2-1 shortly after the break. Shortly before the hour Polak scored for the home team : 3-1, but Riihilahti and Johansson equalled the score to 3-all. Only few minutes for the end of the game, Lokvenc scored the winning goal.
